Tennis mailbag, with CNN's Candy Reid

(CNN) -- Do you have a question about tennis for World Sport Anchor Candy Reid? E-mail candy@cnn.com.

Q. Hi Candy. At what point will a match in progress be called off for whatever reason? Will the points accumulated at the time of decision be the final result for the match?
Thanks, Darren, UK

A. Darren, normally play is suspended if there is heavy rain or lightning for example, and resumed as soon as possible -- the Wimbledon organizers are unfortunately used to the rain scenario! Very occasionally a title will be shared by the two finalists -- if the whole day is wiped out and they have to get to another tournament. During the match -- usually the umpire will try to wait until the end of the game to suspend play but often this is not possible. Keeping the match going could be dangerous as some surfaces become very slippery, very quickly.

Q. Hi Candy. I just read the page where you put forward your 5 best players of all time and I really have only one issue to take and that's Roger Federer. Whilst he undoubtedly is one of the best I've ever seen I don't think he has been around long enough to be in that list yet. If he can keep this level up for a while longer then yes. Also do think Kim will be able to get back to the top or has the game slightly passed her by? Does the same apply to Justine?
Regards, Peter Johnson

A. Fair point regarding Federer Peter -- I just love the way he plays and the fact that he can do it all. He hasn't been playing anywhere near his best recently and has won 3 tournaments. In fact the only match he's lost this year was to Marat Safin in Melbourne -- and the Russian had to play out of his mind to win! Clijsters I think will get back to the top but it will take some time and in my opinion the same applies for Henin-Hardenne. Both have so much ability that's it hard to see them not getting up there again. The women's game also really needs them -- Clijsters with her powerful baseline and athleticism, and Henin-Hardenne with her delightful touch and tactical sense adds an element to the WTA that I think is currently missing.

Q. Hi Candy, is there a drug test for the tennis players before they are allowed to play tennis games? Thanks for the great TV show "World Sport."
Khaled Musleh, Copenhagen, Denmark.

A. I'm glad you enjoy the show Khaled! There aren't standard drug tests before tournaments or matches -- but there are random tests throughout the year. Tennis is generally a clean sport -- but of course positive tests do come up from time to time. Many cold medicines have illegal substances in them so you have to be very careful.

Q. Hi Candy! My name is Maurício. I'm from Brazil and I like sports so much, especially tennis. So, I'd like to know, what do you think about Gustavo Kuerten(Guga)? Do you think he come back to play tennis as well as he played before the surgery? Thanks for your attention.
Maurício Ramalho

A. Mauricio -- I'd love to see Guga get back to the top. He's one of those players you can't but help cheer for -- but I fear his long-term injury problems will mean he will find it very hard. The men's game is so good and so deep now that it's going to take a while for him to start winning again -- but the timing of his return is spot-on -- as the clay-court season is about to start.

Q. Dear Candy. A lot has been written/said about Lindsay's half-hearted play at the Aussie final which cost her the title. Do you agree? Will she still win another grand slam before she retires?
Conie Coronel, Manila, Philippines

A. I was really shocked at Davenport's final performance in Melbourne Conie. You just don't expect a player of her caliber and experience to give up like that -- especially not during such a big occasion. There's no doubt she was tired -- but I think it was more mental than physical. Had she won that 40-0 game in the 7th game of the second set I think she would have won the match. There's no doubt that she has the ability to win more Grand-Slams before retiring, but one wonders if that match will come back to haunt her. With the Belgians still out and the Williams not up to par, that was easily her best chance to win a Major for quite some time.

Q. Hello Candy! What is your opinion about the chances of the U.S. team to win Fed Cup this year given the fact that both Serena and Lindsay has committed to play in the first round in April against Belgium? What are main difficulties that they can possibly face? And, finally, is Venus going to play too?

A. Every year, the Americans are the favorites, but more often than not they aren't able to play their strongest team. And that always surprises me -- can you imagine a footballer not wanting to play in the World Cup (Nicolas Anelka being the exception!) So Zina Garrison must be delighted that Serena and Lindsay have committed (no word from Venus yet) especially since they're up against Belgium in the quarter-finals in April -- and Clijsters and Henin-Hardenne may be fit for the visiting team. If the Belgians do return they'll be very dangerous along with of course Russia who have a number of top players to pick from.
