Reedie and the London bid team will offer some $20m of Olympic incentives

BERLIN, Germany -- London has stepped up its campaign to win the 2012 Olympics with a $20 million carrot to athletes and National Olympic Committees (NOC) worldwide.

Organizers set out a series of offers they hope could make the difference when IOC delegates meet in Singapore this July to decide who will host the 2012 Games.

London is vying against Paris, Madrid, New York and Moscow and the deal includes a $50,000 credit to every NOC which uses designated training camps in Britain.

Other incentives include free return airfares for every team member coming to the London Olympics and free train travel.

And there will be discounts of between 20 to 50 percent for every Olympic family member in selected restaurants, shops, and theaters throughout the capital.

"London 2012 recognises the vital role that National Olympic Committees play in the Olympic Movement, especially in ensuring that athletes are prepared and can compete to the best of their ability," said Craig Reedie, British BOA chairman and a key member of the London 2012 bid team.

The cost of London's offer is estimated at around 20 million dollars.

London used the meeting of summer Games sports federations and the IOC's executive board in Berlin this week to launch the offer.
