CAPE TOWN, South Africa (Reuters) -- South Africa coach Jake White has named a record five black players in his starting lineup for the one-off test against Uruguay at East London on Saturday.

Scrumhalf Ricky January and wing Tonderai Chavhanga, both former South African under-21 players under White, will make their test debuts.

Wing Bryan Habana, prop Gurthro Steenkamp and flank Solly Tyibilika are the other three black players in the team.

"This match presents an opportunity to blood a few youngsters," White said. "But we will not be taking Uruguay lightly.

"In South Africa every test is as important as the next. But playing against Uruguay does give us the chance to experiment with some combinations with a view to the upcoming series against France."

South Africa won both their previous encouters with Uruguay at the 1999 and 2003 World Cup tournaments.

Uruguay, who have beaten Japan, Portugual and Georgia in their first three World Cup qualifiers, will take the field without any of their European-based professionals.

"We have managed to spend quite some time together preparing for this tour," said coach Sebastian Pineyrua.

"Normally we only get together twice a week and then the players have to train on their own and follow personal gym programmes, but this time we have spent a few weeks together.

"This is probably the most time we have spent together as a team since the 2003 World Cup.

"This short tour is about preparing for the next World Cup and giving the youngsters exposure against one of the top teams in the world.

"The average age of this team will only be 26 by 2007 and they have only played three games together, but we have won all of them."

Replacements 16-Hanyani Shimange, 17-Os du Randt, 18-Gerrie Britz, 19-Joe van Niekerk, 20-Fourie du Preez, 21-Jaque Fourie, 22-Brent Russell.
