Injured Botha to miss three tests
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa -- Giant lock Bakkies Botha will miss South Africa's next three tests with a foot injury, the South African Rugby Union have revealed.
Botha has a stress fracture in his right foot which will rule him out of rugby for six to eight weeks.
This means he will miss Saturday's test against Uruguay and the two-test series against France.
"This is exactly the type of overuse injury you see reappear when one consistently selects the same squad," said Springbok coach Jake White,
"It is frustrating because here you have a player with 22 caps and whom you want to give as much test experience as possible before the next World Cup."
Utility forward Gerrie Britz, who was not a member of the original squad, was named as Botha's replacement in the starting line-up against Uruguay.
White has yet to decide who to add to the replacements' bench. First-choice lock Victor Matfield is suffering from a slight hamstring strain.
