EINDHOVEN, Netherlands -- PSV Eindhoven coach Guus Hiddink has warned Monaco to expect a backlash when they clash in their UEFA Champions League tie at the Philips Stadium on Tuesday.
Monaco won 2-1 at Eindhoven and drew 1-1 at home on their way to last season's Champions League final.
"There was little in it then and we have improved in the last year," said Hiddink. "It looks fifty-fifty but we're confident."
But the former South Korea coach admitted Didier Deschamps' Monaco were still a well-organized side.
"They are a typical Deschamps' side. Difficult to break down and always dangerous on the break," he said.
PSV scored four goals at home for the fifth time this season in last weekend's 4-1 win over NAC Breda but Hiddink was not happy.
"We were in a coma in the second half," he said. "We can't afford to play like that on the European stage."
PSV were unlikely to give Brazilian striker Robert, a January signing, a start against Monaco after he sat out the NEC match on the bench.
"Robert is on his way, but we need more time and patience," Hiddink said.
PSV lost Mateja Kezman and Arjen Robben to Chelsea in the summer but Hiddink was confident in his cosmopolitan strikeforce of Korea's Park Ji-Sung, Peruvian Jefferson Farfan and American DaMarcus Beasley.
And Deschamps, who lost Fernando Morientes and Ludovic Giuly last summer, agreed.
"We can't given them any room. We've got to be tight," said the former France captain who won the European Cup with Marseille and Juventus.
Monaco center-back Sebastien Squillaci, who missed the 1-1 draw with French league leaders Lyon on Friday with a sprained ankle, is doubtful.
