LONDON, England -- Tottenham Hotspur striker Mido has been recalled to the Egypt squad for this month's World Cup qualifier against Libya.
"They have sent me the fax for the national game against Libya," Mido told reporters, referring to the match scheduled for March 27 in Cairo.
Mido was axed by Egypt's former coach Italian Marco Tardelli in September after saying he had a groin injury but then played for his former club Roma in a friendly within 24 hours of a World Cup qualifier against Cameroon.
Mido, full name Ahmed Hossam, apologised to the Egyptian Football Association last month but was left out of the squad along with the country's other European-based players for next week's friendly against Saudi Arabia in Dammam.
Egypt are fourth in Group Three with seven points and trail leaders Ivory Coast by five points after five games.
They lost 2-1 to Libya, who are second in the group with 10 points, when the teams met in Tripoli in October.
Mido, who joined Spurs on an 18-month loan deal in January, is doubtful for Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final at Newcastle United with a groin injury he picked up in training.
