LONDON, England -- Manchester City defenders Richard Dunne and Nedum Onuoha have signed new contracts with the English Premiership club.

Republic of Ireland international Dunne, 25, will remain at Eastlands for at least two more seasons, while England Under-20 full-back Onuoha has penned a three-year deal.

The double signing will be welcome news for manager Stuart Pearce, who took over from Kevin Keegan and hopes to secure the job beyond the current season.

"We are delighted Richard has signed. From my own point of view it's great that I am the man in charge when he turns around and says he wants to stay at this football club," said Pearce.

"He has performed exceptionally well this year and is one of our top three, there is no doubt about that."

Dunne, a £3m signing from Everton in October 2000, has had an excellent season, along with Onuoha, who has been ever present since Pearce arrived.

The 18-year-old Nigerian-born defender only signed a two-year contract last November, but City officials were keen to tie him down to an extended contract.

The club are currently in 10th position in the league and in line to record their best-ever Premiership finish.

Joey Barton, Shaun Wright-Phillips, half-brother Bradley, and Irish Under-21 international Willo Flood have already signed new deals this season, while Stephen Jordan is expected to do so in the coming weeks.
