LONDON, England -- Southampton moved out of the English Premier League relegation zone as a late winner by Senegal forward Henri Camara gave them 4-3 home victory over fellow strugglers Norwich on Saturday.
Crystal Palace slipped into the bottom three on goal difference despite a 0-0 draw at Newcastle United.
With two games left, Norwich are bottom on 30 points, West Bromwich Albion, who have a game in hand against Arsenal on Monday, are above them on goal difference and Palace are 18th on 31 points.
They trail Southampton ownly on goal difference.
Southampton, just as they had done in last week's 4-1 defeat away to arch-rivals Portsmouth, conceded an early goal.
David Bentley put the Canaries ahead in the third minute when he volleyed in Leon McKenzie's cross.
But four minutes later the hosts were level when Matt Oakley fired low beyond Norwich's England keeper Robert Green after a pass from striker Peter Crouch.
The giant forward, who missed the Pompey match through injury, then got on the scoresheet himself when he connected with a cross from Rory Delap in the 20th minute.
However, in a match featuring abysmal defending by both teams, more goals were always likely and so it proved when Saints defender Danny Higginbotham put through his own net in the 31st minute following a centre from Norwich striker Darren Huckerby to make it 2-2.
And the match took another twist when Saints's former England full-back Graeme Le Saux volleyed home in the 39th minute.
But once more they could not hold on to a lead and McKenzie equalized on half-time when he slotted home to level the game at 3-3 before Camara's brilliant winner, a 25 meter half volley two minutes from time.
Liverpool missed a chance to move closer to next season's Champions League with a 1-1 draw at home to Middlesbrough, failing to punish Everton for their surprise 2-0 defeat at Fulham.
A sensational volley by Steven Gerrard failed to mask another disappointing Premiership performance by Liverpool as the Champions League semifinalists.
The Liverpool captain unleashed an unstoppable long-range effort, his sixth Premiership goal of the season, to deny Middlesbrough their first win at the venue for 29 years after Szilard Nemeth had fired the visitors into a shock lead.
Despite powering into the last four of Europe's top knockout competition, Liverpool have now managed just one win in their last five league games and look set to miss out to neighbors Everton in the race to finish fourth.
Fulham preserved their Premiership status for another season as first half goals from Collins John and Brian McBride gave them a 2-0 victory over Everton at Craven Cottage.
Young Dutch striker John stabbed the home side ahead on 15 minutes and United States international McBride headed home a stunning second shortly before the interval and Fulham held on despite having Papa Bouba Diop sent off late on.
It was a disappointing afternoon for Everton who could have all but secured fourth place in the Premiership to bring Champions League football to Goodison Park next season had they won.
