LONDON, England -- Martin O'Neill's five-year stint in charge of Scottish giants Celtic could end this week after growing speculation he will stand down for personal reasons.
O'Neill's wife Geraldine is ill and reports in Scotland said the Northern Irishman would quit to look after her, with Gordon Strachan taking over at Celtic.
The former Leicester boss has one more game in charge this season when Celtic take on Dundee United in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday at Hampden Park.
Victory would add to an impressive trophy haul by O'Neill, despite Sunday's dramatic 2-1 defeat at Motherwell which cost them a second consecutive league title.
Asked about the 'quit' reports after losing the league title in the last two minutes on Sunday, O'Neill would only say: "I will not comment at all on my future today."
Starting out with a domestic Treble in his first season in charge, Celtic retained their league title in 2002 and won the league and cup Double in 2004.
They also reached the 2003 UEFA Cup final, losing 3-2 to Jose Mourinho's Porto after extra time.
