Fiorentina move for striker Toni
YOUR E-MAIL ALERTSFLORENCE, Italy -- Fiorentina said Thursday it has reached an agreement with Palermo for the transfer of Italy striker Luca Toni. "Palermo has accepted our proposal of euro10 million ($12.07 million). Now we have to reach an agreement with Toni," Fiorentina general manager Pantaleo Corvino was quoted as saying by the ANSA news agency. Fiorentina is reportedly negotiating a four-year deal with Toni, who scored 20 goals for Palermo last season. Fiorentina also acquired defender Giuseppe Pancaro from AC Milan this week. Inter Milan signed Chilean midfielder David Pizarro from Serie A rivals Udinese on Thursday. Pizarro has agreed a four-year contract with Inter, the Milan club said on their website. Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi's son, Saadi, of Udinese, will be tried for sporting fraud, his lawyer said Thursday. Gadhafi was banned for three months from Italy's top division in November, 2003, after testing positive for a performance-enhancing steroid while playing for Perugia. Perugia rarely fielded him and he signed a contract with Serie A side Udinese last month. A Perugia prosecutor has ordered Gadhafi to stand trial in November, said lawyer Giovanni Guaglianone. Gadhafi, 32, has denied intentionally doping, saying medicine he took for back pain probably caused the positive result. Udinese said Gadhafi was out of the country and not available for comment.
