Hearts derby triumph sees them top
GLASGOW, Scotland -- Hearts romped to a 4-0 derby day win over Edinburgh city rivals Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday to surge to the top of the table. Czech Republic international Rudi Skacel bundled home the opening goal in the 13th minute and Hearts ran riot in the second period. Paul Hartley slotted in a second from the penalty spot on 57 minutes after defender Stephen Glass handled in the box. Substitute Steve Simmons made it 3-0 14 minutes later after the Hibs defence failed to clear and Lithuanian Saulius Mikoliunas crashed in the fourth from outside the box. Hearts and champions Rangers, 1-0 winners at Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday, both have six points from their first two matches, two clear of Celtic and Motherwell. Reuters contributed to this report.
