Real's Owen snubs move to Everton
![]() Owen's future is in the balance as he ponders a possible move back to the English Premier League. LONDON, England -- Real Madrid and England star Michael Owen has turned down a move to Premiership Everton, the club's manager David Moyes revealed on Tuesday. "We have been in contact with Michael and his advisors - and unfortunately he doesn't see Everton as a team he would choose at this present time." said Moyes. Owen has had talks with several English clubs following Real's double swoop for Brazilian strikers Robinho and Julio Baptista. But the 25-year-old will not be joining the Goodison Park side, whose Champions League fate will be finalized Wednesday when they take on Villarreal in their third qualifying round second leg match in Spain trailing by two goals to one. Owen's former side Liverpool, who are on the brink of selling Milan Baros to Aston Villa, remains a likely destination for the prolific striker. For Merseyside rivals Everton it is another rejection as they bid to build on fourth place in the English Premiership last season. Moyes also revealed that he had bid 10 million pounds ($18 million) for Dutch striker Dirk Kuyt earlier this month, but it was turned down by his club Feyenoord. He added: "I am trying to reassure fans I am in for most of the big names. "We do have money to spend if the right players are available - but getting them in is the problem." Cicinho clauseReal Madrid have reached an agreement with Sao Paulo that gives them an option to sign Brazil defender Cicinho. The Primera Liga club said the deal would allow them to buy the 25-year-old attacking right back in the future if they wanted to. Real signed Uruguay right back Carlos Diogo from River Plate as cover for Spain international Michel Salgado last month. Cicinho, who was part of the Brazil side that crushed Argentina 4-1 to win the Confederations Cup in June, had been linked with several other European clubs including Manchester United, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus.
