DUBLIN, Ireland -- Manchester United captain Roy Keane and Tottenham striker Robbie Keane have been included in the Ireland squad for the World Cup qualifier against France.

The pair missed the 2-1 friendly defeat by Italy earlier this month.

Midfielder Graham Kavanagh, who was absent from the Italy game with a foot injury, was also named in manager Brian Kerr's 23-man squad for the match on September 7 in Dublin.

Ireland top the European Group Four table on 13 points. Switzerland and Israel are on 12 and 11 points respectively while France are fourth on 10.

Switzerland and France have a game in hand over Ireland.

"We can get 22 points and Switzerland, at the moment, can get 24 while France can also get 22," Kerr said. "We're in control of our situation and I am happy with that."

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Shay Given (Newcastle), Paddy Kenny (Sheffield United), Nicky Colgan (Barnsley)

Defenders: Kenny Cunningham (Birmingham) Gary Breen (Sunderland), Andy O'Brien (Portsmouth), John O'Shea (Manchester United), Richard Dunne (Manchester City), Stephen Carr (Newcastle), Ian Harte (Levante), Steve Finnan (Liverpool)

Midfielders: Steven Reid (Blackburn), Liam Miller (Manchester United), Roy Keane (Manchester United), Matt Holland (Charlton), Graham Kavanagh (Wigan), Kevin Kilbane (Everton), Andy Reid (Tottenham)
