Serbian defender Dragutinovic is set for a deadline-beating move to Marseille

BRUSSELS, Belgium (Reuters) -- Olympique Marseille are ready to sign Serbian international defender Ivica Dragutinovic from Belgium's Standard Liege before the transfer deadline on Wednesday.

According to the Belgian club's official website, "both clubs have reached agreement" on a move believed to be worth 1.5 million euros ($1.85 million).

"It is now up to the player, but we hope to conclude the deal quickly," the Liege statement added.

The 29-year-old defender, who was targeted by Greek side Olympiakos earlier this month, is in Belgrade preparing for Serbia and Montenegro's World Cup qualifier against Lithuania on Saturday.

Dragutinovic, who has one year left on his Liege contract, has been with the Belgian club since 2000.

Standard turned down a 500,000 euro bid for Dragutinovic from Olympiakos, who are managed by former Bruges coach Trond Sollied.
