Bahrain qualifier must be replayed
YOUR E-MAIL ALERTSMANAMA, Bahrain -- Bahrain and Uzbekistan will have to replay their World Cup play-off first leg match after being ordered to do so by FIFA. FIFA ordered the match to be replayed because of a mistake made by Japanese referee Toshimitsu Yoshida. The Bahrain Football Federation have confirmed receiving a letter canceling the result, which was won 1-0 by the hosts last Saturday. Yoshida ruled out a penalty scored by Server Djeparov because of encroachment in the area by a Uzbek team-mate - but crucially did not allow them to retake the penalty and awarded a freekick to Bahrain. The new date for first leg will be October 8 in Tashkent and the second leg in Manama on October 12. Both teams have never qualified for the World Cup finals. The winner will play the fourth placed team from CONCACAF for the right to go through to the finals.
