PSG launch appeal against decision
YOUR E-MAIL ALERTSPARIS, France -- Paris St Germain have appealed against a FIFA decision not to authorise Uruguay internationals Carlos Bueno and Cristian Rodriguez to play for them. Both players signed four-year contracts in July but previous club, Montevideo-based Penarol, said they still belonged to them. FIFA provisionally authorised them to play for PSG on August 19 before ruling on September 1 that they could not represent their new club. They have not played since. PSG official Jean-Michel Moutier said the appeal would be examined by a FIFA commission before the end of October. "If we are not satisfied we could take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport," he said. Forward Bueno, 25, and 19-year-old Rodriguez, a left-sided midfielder nicknamed Onion, had not played for their former club since March when the two parties fell out over a pay dispute. Bueno has 15 Uruguay caps and nine international goals, while Rodriguez has eight caps. Both were in the Uruguay squad at last year's Copa America in Peru.
