Roeber is appointed Partizan coach
![]() Roeber will be looking to turn Partizan's fortunes around after a poor start BELGRADE, Serbia & Montgenegro -- Former Hertha Berlin and Stuttgart coach Juergen Roeber has taken charge of Partizan Belgrade, the Serbia & Montenegro champions have confirmed. Roeber was appointed after Vladimir Vermezovic, who steered Partizan to the league title and the last 16 of the UEFA Cup, stepped down earlier this week following a string of poor results. He has signed a deal to coach Partizan until the end of the season with an option of extending it for another year. Partizan were eliminated from European competition in the early stages and have recorded only one win in their last three league matches with Vermezovic resigning amid protests from angry fans. Roeber, who also plied his trade with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, will be the second German to coach Partizan after former World Cup winner Lothar Matthaeus who steered the team to the league title in 2003 and left them last year. Partizan are third in the first division two points behind leaders OFK Belgrade and level with bitter city rivals Red Star, who they visit in their next fixture on October 15.
