KIGALI, Rwanda (Reuters) -- Rwanda have dismissed Swedish coach Roger Palmgren after their failure to win a match over the last 12 months, officials confirmed on Monday.

The 40-year-old was in the job for 13 months, amassing a record of three draws and five losses in eight matches, all but one of them qualifying matches for the 2006 World Cup finals.

Rwandan officials have also announced that defender Hamidi Ndikumana, who plays in Cyprus, has been stripped of the team's captaincy.

They also said that the current administration of the Rwanda Football Federation will not put themselves up for re-election at their next elections in March.

Rwanda finished bottom of their World Cup qualifying group in contrast to their surprise qualification for the 2004 African Nations Cup finals in Tunisia.
