BUCHAREST, Romania -- Ioan Andone has resigned as Dinamo Bucharest coach - even though his team currently lead the Romanian first division.

"I'm really sad to leave my team but I have to do it now because I don't want to be fired," said Andone without elaborating on his surprising decision.

Local media reported that there has been rising tension between Andone and executive president Ioan Becali.

Andone, named Romanian coach of the year, led Dinamo to the 2004 title. During his three years at the club, Andone won three Romanian cups and a Super Cup.

Dinamo, who failed to advance to the last 32 of the UEFA Cup ealier this month, hold a one-point lead over arch-rivals Steaua Bucharest in the league.

Kanatlarovski back with Vardar

Dragan Kanatlarovski has taken charge for a second stint as coach of former Macedonian champions Vardar Skopje.

Kanatlarovski, who stepped down as Macedonia's national coach in March after a poor World Cup qualifying campaign, has replaced Vujadin Stanojkovich who resigned last month.

Vardar Skopje are second in the Macedonian championship, seven points behind leaders Rabotnicki Kometal.

Rabotnicki Kometal's international midfielder Stoianche Ignatov was named as Macedonia's Footballer of the Year.
