You've got to get yourself down to Melbourne. Great beaches, great wine and great people. My recommendation for a great weekend afternoon out is to take the tram down to St. Kilda, wander around the shops and street stalls, then finish off the afternoon with a pot of tea and a selection of cakes from one of the incredible cake shops. You won't find better anywhere!

Brisbane offers the best of all worlds. The weather is fabulous 10 months of the year with summers normally around 32 degrees Celsius for six months of the year. Brisbane city has a swimming lagoon right in the middle of the city -- this is a family area where you can use the free BBQ's and swim to your hearts content along with a real sand beach. Within 30 minutes drive south is the Gold Coast -- say no more -- best place for the young and the young at heart. Within one hours drive north is the beautiful beaches of the Sunshine Coast which is more for the family visits, great shopping and friendly people. Head a little further north and you hit Rainbow Beach, the colored sands and Fraser Island. The largest sand island which has two fresh water lakes with the water so clear you can see the bottom which is a very long way down. Overall Brisbane, Queensland, is a wonderful place to live and I would recommend it to everyone to come and visit.

You can't beat Sydney on a hot summer's day (which is the majority of days in Australia) sitting by any number of beaches with friends. There's always a friendly atmosphere and an outdoor BBQ with friends ultimately leads to drinks at any number of the great bars or clubs on offer. Where else in the world can you have world class views, perfect weather, great people and affordable prices without sitting in an expensive tourist venue? The restaurants and food available is always fresh -- and undoubtedly served with a smile. On a good day, this place is one step away from heaven.
