MONTREAL, Canada -- Police sealed off part of Montreal's main airport and 11 people fell sick after a powdery substance spilled from a package on Tuesday night, Canadian media reported.

Fire and police officials said the the strong-smelling substance spilled during transport at Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau airport, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Police said the package may have come from London on a British Airways flight.

According to Canadian media, the 11 people affected by the spill worked in various government agencies such as Border Services and Agriculture Canada.

Emergency crews sealed off a large area, but airport operations were not affected, the report said.
