CNN.com asked readers to share their thoughts about the South Asia earthquake. Here is a sampling from the responses, some of which have been edited:

I cannot stop my tears even ten days after the deadliest earthquake that took thousands of lives and left millions helpless and homeless. It is really an unbearable loss in the history of the country. Every piece of news of devastation makes me feel like a body without a soul. But one thing makes me feel happy -- when I see the International Assistance in our hour of need that shows WE ARE ONE WORLD besides religious and cultural differences. We are united and determined in order to make this world more beautiful and safer. Many of my classmates and friends living in Bagh, Neelam Valley and Azad Kashmir were missing, but I now have information about them. I salute the relief workers who have come from other countries just for humanitarian service. All we need to do is to serve the badly suffering nations. God bless the world.

The chances of housing everyone over the winter in the Pakistan earthquake zone looks very slim. Many will die, but a simple solution may exist. By simply coordinating between the UN refugee organization and the world's travel agencies we could take the most vulnerable percentage of that population, the elderly and mothers and their young children, and give them a holiday in the sun. We could move several hundred thousand people out to Southern India, Saudi Arabia, South East Asian resorts (now quite empty thanks to a few recent bombings,) North Africa and Oceania. These would not be refugees but donation funded tourists. They could stay in the homes of volunteers, hotels, motels and well appointed camping resorts in warmer climates rather than chilly tents in snow covered mountains. It would mean those rebuilding in Pakistan can take the time to plan and rebuild well, rather than forcing them to expediently rebuild the ruins and create a new generation of shoddy earthquake susceptible housing that risks becoming permanent.

My village is Kangar Bandian Tarch, Union Council Namal, District Abbotabad, 15 kilometres from Kohala on the Kohala Tarch link road. There is still no government representation here and no government aid has reached us. Many people have died and hundreds are injured. Currently I am working in the Pakistan International Airlines store in Lahore airport, and I have visited my village after traveling 14 kilometres ON FOOT. I request immediate assistance -- waterproof tents and mobile hospitals -- at my village.

Just a couple of hours ago, my husband and I returned from the badly hit city of Muzaffarabad. We had decided to make this 8 hour trip from Lahore for a day with simply this intention: that we would help anyone that needed help and donate items personally -- to make sure those who were needy really did receive our donations. When we reached the city, it was as if nothing had happened there at all. The city did not seem to be "80 percent" destroyed as many Pakistani channels claim it had been. Not that there aren't buildings which have been brought to a rubble -- yes, there are lots of them, but at the same time, there are many, many buildings which are nice and tall and still standing. That was good to know -- we were glad to see it wasn't half as bad as we had imagined. But more shockingly, there were piles and piles and piles of clothes everywhere.

This is the worst quake ever in Pakistan's history and we are grateful to all the countries for their help and support. But I also request that the Pakistani government makes sure they stop the looting of the relief goods by some groups in the worst hit areas as this is bringing a bad name to the country. At the same time I appreciate the people of Pakistan helping their brothers and sisters by donating everything in order to help.

I have a lot of relatives in Muzaffarabad and during this disaster some of them died, some are missing and a few of them are alive. We bring them here and accommodate them. I am writing this because I want to move your attention towards the fact that most of the people died in Muzaffarabad and even some villages are totally demolished. Now there are only dead bodies and they don't have veils to bury them. The people were shouting for help but nobody was able to help them out -- most of them died because of delays in rescue operations. People were individually trying to evacuate their relatives but they could not without machinery. Now, rescue teams are working in major cities, but we also have to access remote areas as soon as possible. Thousands of people are looking for help. They need shelter, food, medicine, everything. I appreciate that we are getting help from all over the world. But first of all we have to save the thousands of living people from the remote areas -- otherwise they will die.

I have seen the people of Pakistan after the devastating tragedy. Response from people is amazing -- they are trying their best to help those who are looking for help, mainly students of medical and engineering colleges, universities and people from all walks of life. Last night I went to hospital to donate my blood and was so happy to see that hundreds of people were already there for this great cause. This was the situation in just one hospital. This great response from people is amazing. I would also thank you for giving such detailed coverage to the South Asia earthquake. Also I am thankful to all the countries that are doing their best in helping a great nation, especially the USA which has proved "A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND INDEED."
