(CNN) -- Two American troops died on Wednesday in Afghanistan, one in an explosion and the other in a vehicle accident, according to the U.S. military.

A roadside bombing in Asadabad in Kunar province, eastern Afghanistan, killed one of the U.S. service members, according to a spokesman at U.S. Central Command headquarters in Florida.

An Afghan national -- a civilian employee of the coalition -- also died, and two U.S. troops were wounded.

The other U.S service member who died in Afghanistan on Wednesday was in a vehicle "roll-over" accident near Kandahar in southern Afghanistan, the American military said in a statement.

The military said "enemy activity was not a factor in the accident," which happened when the troops were on patrol. Four service members were injured in the accident.

The U.S.-led coalition has been attempting to wipe out remnants of the Taliban and other Islamic militants in Afghanistan since they ousted the ruling Taliban from power after the September 11, 2001, attacks.
