(CNN) -- "World Trade Center," a feature film about the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York's twin towers, opens in theaters this week. We asked our readers if movie audiences are ready for a film about that day. Here is a selection of your responses, some of which have been edited: I think it is about time for Hollywood to begin telling the emotional and heroic stories of average Americans on that fateful day in September 2001. People who say they are too emotional to see such displays of courage cause me concern. Are we too emotionally fragile, as an American society, to celebrate and embrace a resurgence of hope through immense tragedy? I certainly hope not! I do not think any one who lost a loved on in the 9/11 tragedy is ready to see it depicted on the big screen. Losing a family member is hard enough let alone having to lose them all over again on the big screen. I feel it is too soon. A romantic portrayal with some elements of a "happy ending" I believe is a rotten attempt to capitalize on another person's grief. Hollywood could have waited a few more years before trying to make a buck off our national tragedy. If this were a film that focused solely on the terrible terrorist actions of that day, then this would be a film to pass on. However, this film instead focuses on the human spirit and how the men and women of those who worked at Ground Zero came together to save two fallen heroes trapped in the rubble. Given all the bad news in today's world, it is great to see how humanity still triumphs. It's not a question of whether or not we are "ready" to see a movie about 9/11. It's a question of whether this is going to be a movie anyone is interested in seeing. Personally, I have no desire to see Nicolas Cage pretending to be a brave police officer. You can't take a story about real people and replace them with well-known actors, especially when your story is a tragedy of national proportions. I'm perfectly ready to watch a movie about 9/11 or the stories of the people involved, I'm just waiting for the right one. Did you see the film? Send your on-camera review to CNN.
