Busta Rhymes' bodyguard murdered

NEW YORK (CNN) -- A bodyguard for hip-hop star Busta Rhymes was shot dead during a music video shoot Sunday morning, police said.

Israel Ramirez, 30, was shot once in the chest, police said. Busta Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Smith, was not injured.

Police identified Ramirez as a personal bodyguard for Smith.

Police said they are looking into newspaper reports that the shooting resulted from an altercation between production personnel and members of the entourage of one of several music and professional sports celebrities on hand for the video shoot.

Calls to Smith's management company, Violater Management, were not answered.
