Tennis mailbag, with CNN's Candy Reid
(CNN) -- Do you have a question about tennis for World Sport Anchor Candy Reid? E-mail candy@cnn.com. Happy New Year Tennis Fans! The 2006 Mailbag is now up and running -- and I'm looking forward to your questions. If you'd like to find out more about life on the circuit U.S. Open semi-finalist Robby Ginepri will be answering questions soon. Just send them to my mailbag and I'll forward them on to him! I recently interviewed Robby on-court and the package seemed to get a mixed-reaction: John Vic Roman Now to some more of your thoughts on using technology in tennis: Khaled Musleh Heather Rae; Sydney, Australia To your questions: Q: Hi -- Do you think that Martina Hingis will get back to the top 10 or will win any titles? Happy New Year and best wishes from Sweden. A: I've been really impressed by Hingis's performances at the Australian Hardcourt Championship. At the time of writing she's into the quarter-finals and has just beaten the 32nd-ranked player in the world. So I wouldn't be surprised at all if she were to get back into the top 10 and win several titles. It's probably just a matter of when. She's such a smart player -- she can out-think her opponents and don't forget she's still only 25. There's still plenty of tennis left in the Swiss Miss. But will her feet and ankles cooperate? That's the big question. Q: Hi, I've been confused for some time now, and would like to know: what is the difference between entry ranking and the Champions Race on the ATP and WTA tours? Thanks, A: The "race" is from January to December and is used to determine which players get into the season-enders. The entry rankings are based on a rolling year -- with players gaining and losing points depending on how they do compared to the previous year; eg. if Roger Federer, the defending champion, were to fail to win Wimbledon this year, he would lose points. Q: Hello Candy! Wow I was soooo thrilled to watch the final match of the Tennis Masters Cup, mainly because finally my favorite David Nalbandian won the tournament. I knew I was one of just a few people who felt good about the result of the match, most people were disappointed Federer lost the match. I'm a huge fan of Nalbandian because in every match he had, he always got his game under control by minimizing errors and increasing winners, and he performed awesomely on all of the matches he had in this tournament. What do you think, Candy? Do you think Nalbandian is going to offer more of his best this season? I hope he is! Nalbandian Rules! ! Pleaseee let me know what you think, Candy. Q: Hi Candy, Some people, in my opinion, seem to be blowing the Nalbandian win over Federer in the 2005 Masters Cup out of proportion. Some are saying Nalbandian is likely to win a Slam next year. No doubt he'll gain confidence from defeating the world's number one player (even though Federer was coming back from an injury). Nalby may be more of a factor in the contest, but winning a Slam? What are your thoughts? Thanks, A: Nalbandian played a terrific Masters Cup and became only the fourth player to beat Federer in 2005. In my opinion though, I think if the Swiss maestro had been fully fit -- Nalbandian would have been the losing finalist. The Argentinian has a great game for all surfaces as he's shown in the past -- but I'd be surprised if he wins a major. Having said that though, he does seem to get really hot from time to time. You won't hear from him in a while and then all of a sudden he'll pop up and do really well.
