Jauzion ruled out of France opener
![]() Jauzion is expected to return for the match against Italy on February 26 MARCOUSSIS, France -- Center Yannick Jauzion has been ruled out of France's Six Nations opener against Scotland with a fractured toe, team doctor Thierry Hermerel has said. "Yannick had a scan today. It showed that the fracture on the little toe of his right foot could worsen so we decided to sideline him for three weeks," said Hermerel. "Yannick will also miss the match against Ireland on February 11 but should be available for the game against Italy on February 26." At 27 and with 32 caps to his name, Jauzion is regarded as the backline leader in a French team who are targeting a Six Nations grand slam after recording wins over Australia, South Africa, Tonga and Canada last November. Ludovic Valbon, who has two caps and plays club rugby with Brive, will be promoted from the bench to replace him. Bourgoin's uncapped center Guillaume Bousses has been drafted into the squad. Jauzion said he injured his toe last Saturday during the first half of a French championship match with his Toulouse club against Pau. "I played the second half without trouble. I was a bit lame after the game but I thought it was not serious. It became worse on Monday after I joined the team and I had to grit my teeth in training. On Wednesday, I was too much in pain to train," he added. "After a two-day rest, I was feeling better but as soon as I resumed training today, I knew that I wouldn't be 100 percent fit for the match."
