Swedes complete ice hockey double
Jonsson wrapped up Sweden's victory by scoring their fourth goal. RIGA, Latvia -- Olympic champions Sweden blanked titleholders Czech Republic 4-0 in the world championship final in Riga on Sunday, to complete a unique golden double. The Swedes became the first nation to win both world and Olympic titles in the same year. Sweden also hammered the Czechs 7-3 in the Turin semifinals in February on their way to capturing the Olympic gold. After a tight opening, Jesper Mattsson and Fredrik Emvall scored two goals 37 seconds apart midway through the first period. Niklas Kronwall and Jorgen Jonsson added two more in the second to put the game out of reach of the Czechs. Kronwall was named the tournament MVP, best defenseman and a member of the all-star team. Defenseman Petteri Nummelin set up three goals to lead Finland to a 5-0 victory over Canada in the bronze-medal game.
