Pauleta extends his Paris SG deal

PARIS, France -- Portugal striker Pauleta has clarified his future before the start of the World Cup finals by extending his contract with Paris St Germain. The Paris club said in a statement on Thursday that Pauleta, who was under contract until 2007, had signed for another year and was now tied to PSG until 2008. Pauleta, the top Ligue 1 scorer last season with 21 goals, had received a lucrative offer from five-times French champions Olympique Lyon. The prolific 33-year-old joined PSG in 2003 from Girondins Bordeaux. Rui Costa returnsPortuguese playmaker Rui Costa will return to Benfica after rescinding his contract with AC Milan, an official at the Portuguese club said on Thursday. Local media reported the player, who left Portugal in 1994 to join Fiorentina, has signed for one year with the option of a further 12 months. The 34-year-old, who retired from international football after Euro 2004, joined AC Milan in 2001 from Fiorentina. "I feel happy with the possibility of returning, am ambition I have had for 12 years," said Rui Costa, who started his career with Benfica as a nine-year-old, upon arrival at Lisbon airport on Tuesday.
