BERLIN, Germany -- Schalke have extended the contracts of German international forward Gerald Asamoah and two other players by two years.

The extension commits Asamoah, 27, reserve goalkeeper Christofer Heimeroth, 24, and 20-year-old defender Tim Hoogland to the Gelsenkirchen-based club until the end of June 2008.

"These are not only good and promising footballers, they're also really important elements inside our team," said team manager Andreas Mueller.

Schalke, the 1997 UEFA Cup winners, lie fourth in the Bundesliga, 13 points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
