Liverpool face Utd in cup showdown
![]() Ferguson must take his cup double-chasers to Liverpool next month LONDON, England -- Liverpool were drawn to play Manchester United at Anfield in the outstanding tie of the fifth round of the English FA Cup on Monday. Favorites Chelsea will play third division Colchester United at home if they beat Everton in their fourth round replay at Stamford Bridge next week. Third division Brentford's reward for beating Premiership Sunderland on Saturday is a trip across London to more top flight opposition in Charlton Athletic. Ties will take place on the weekend of February 18-19 and Liverpool's clash is their third FA Cup showdown with United in a decade. United triumphed 1-0 in the 1996 Cup final against their Merseyside rivals and also scored a 2-1 fourth round win in 1998-99. Alex Ferguson's United, who have won the FA Cup a record 11 times, beat Liverpool 1-0 in the Premier League at Old Trafford last week with a last-minute goal from Rio Ferdinand. "We played against Manchester United some days ago and people saw we are two teams that are very close," Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez told reporters. "We were playing away then, but now are at home and that is going to give us an advantage. It is a difficult game for us, but if you are to win trophies you have to play and beat the best teams in the competition." Just hours before the draw was made, United skipper Gary Neville denied an improper conduct charge from the FA for the way he celebrated the goal in the league win over Liverpool. His personal hearing will be heard at a later date and, if he is found guilty, he could be suspended from the Cup match. Bolton, who ousted holders Arsenal on Saturday, meet West Ham -- a repeat of the first Cup final played at Wembley Stadium when it opened in 1923. Aston Villa are at home to Manchester City in a third all-Premiership clash. The new Wembley has a 70 per cent chance of staging this year's final on May 13, constructors announced on Monday. If the stadium is not ready the final will be played in Cardiff. FA Cup fifth round draw: Preston North End or Crystal Palace vs. Coventry or Middlesbrough Newcastle vs. Southampton Aston Villa vs. Manchester City Everton or Chelsea vs. Colchester United Charlton vs. Brentford Liverpool vs. Manchester United Bolton vs. West Ham Stoke City vs. Reading or Birmingham City Ties to be played on the weekend of February 18 and 19.
