Diouf doubtful for Guinea showdown
![]() Diouf (left) remains hopeful of being fit for the quarterfinal clash with Guinea ALEXANDRIA, Egypt -- Senegal striker El Hadji Diouf is doubtful for Friday's African Nations Cup quarterfinal against Guinea. The Bolton Wanderers player, who has yet to score in the tournament, is still troubled by a bruised right thigh following the 2-1 loss to Nigeria on Tuesday. He left Thursday's training session early and said he would have to wait for the doctor's verdict. "I'm a little bit sore and the medical staff will have a look when we get back to the hotel," said the former African Footballer of the Year, adding that he was still optimistic of playing. "I'm focused on the match," he said. "Every player wants to play in a game like this." Senegal, who are not going to the World Cup, qualified despite picking up only three points in Group D. They finished second ahead of Zimbabwe and Ghana on goal difference.
