Netherlands, Belgium eye 2018 bid
YOUR E-MAIL ALERTSAMSTERDAM, Netherlands -- The Netherlands are considering a joint bid with Belgium to stage the 2018 World Cup. "We could organise the 2018 World Cup together with the Belgians and be in the spotlight for four years as a country and football nation," said Dutch Football Federation chairman Jeu Sprengers. The World Cup will almost certainly be hosted by a European country in 2018, The European neighbors co-hosted the Euro 2000 tournament but Sprengers said it was difficult to work out how good their chances were for 2018. "England, Russia and Spain will go for it no doubt... it wouldn't surprise me if the Russians are our most important competitors."
