![]() Paraguay striker Santa Cruz has stepped up his bid to make the finals FRANKFURT, Germany -- Paraguay striker Roque Santa Cruz returned to action in a training match at Bayern Munich on Monday, boosting hopes he will be fit for the World Cup. The 24-year-old has been rated doubtful for the forthcoming finals in Germany since suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury at the end of October. He took an crucial step to recovery on Monday when he took part in a practice match between Bayern's Under-17 and Under-19 teams. Santa Cruz must prove his fitness in time for the May 15 deadline for nations to nominate their World Cup squads. Paraguay are in Group B along with England, Sweden and Trinidad & Tobago. They play their first match against England in Frankfurt on June 10.
