Togo swept all before them to stun group favorites Senegal by qualifying for their first ever finals. This was achieved despite only scraping past Equatorial Guinea in pre-qualifying -- and losing their opening match in Zambia. Emmanuel Adebayor's 11 qualifying goals were unmatched in the African Zone and prompted Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to swoop for the tall striker. He is The Hawks' talisman and much rests on his broad shoulders but his influence could be too much, as seen in the recent African Cup of Nations when Adebayor's disagreement with coach Stephen Keshi saw the latter relieved of his duties. Adebayor, along with midfielder Sherif Toure, were both ever present in Togo's march to the finals.
