![]() Argentina opt for greater fluidity
![]() Pekerman has fine-tuned his team ahead of the clash with Serbia. HERZOGENAURACH, Germany -- Argentina have opted for a more attacking line-up for their second Group C game against Serbia and Montenegro on Friday, replacing Esteban Cambiasso with Luis Gonzalez in midfield. It's the only change from the side that beat Ivory Coast 2-1 in Hamburg last Saturday with coach Jose Pekerman saying the change would give his side more fluidity. Teenage star Lionel Messi has been passed fit to play after a foot injury in training but is set for a place on the bend. "The idea is to have the circulation (of the ball) that will allow us to continue getting up (to the opposition box)," Pekerman said of his change. Argentina, having taken a 2-0 lead in the first half against Ivory Coast, relinquished the initiative for periods of the second and allowed Didier Drogba to pull one back. Pekerman denied his thinking was to give Juan Roman Riquelme more freedom, though he said the playmaker was predominantly on the left against Ivory Coast to help contain the attacking runs of Didier Sokora. "It's not exclusively for Roman. It's important we have equilibrium in all sectors," he said. Pekerman expects the Serbs to be tough to beat despite losing 1-0 to Netherlands on Sunday. "Argentina are ready to play a great match whatever way Serbia play," he said.
