Fan Zone Forum: Best players?

story.zidane.gi.jpg
Zinedine Zidane celebrates his renaissance performance against Spain.

(CNN) -- At the beginning of the tournament CNN asked you to vote for your all-time World Cup team in the Fan Zone Dream Team. Now we also want you to submit your team of the tournament for this World Cup.

There are plenty of star names to choose from among the four semifinalists, including France's revived superstar Zinedine Zidane, Germany's leading scorer Miroslav Klose, Italy's midfield dynamo Gennaro Gattuso and Portugal's legendary Luis Figo.

But who has impressed you from the teams that didn't make the last eight?

Ronaldo's three goals for Brazil weren't enough to get the defending champions past France in the quarterfinals, but they were enough to make the Real Madrid striker the World Cup's all-time leading goalscorer.

Juan Roman Riquelme confirmed his status as one of the world's leading playmakers with his performances for Argentina while young Atletico Madrid Fernando Torres also bolstered his reputation in a series of dynamic performances for Spain.

Or did an unsung hero catch your eye? Perhaps one of Trinidad and Tobago's "Soca Warriors," or someone in the Ivory Coast side that many considered unlikely to go home at the end of the first round?

Here at the Fan Zone Forum we want to know what you think. Send us your teams of the tournament and we'll compile them as the CNN Fan Zone Team of the Tournament after the final. Whatever your views may be, we want to hear about them. Send us your comments and we'll post the best ones here.

This has been the best World Cup and well done to Germans. For me my selection of the best players are Zidane, Cannavaro, Buffon, Messi, Riquelme, Rodriguez, Thuram, Tevez, Heinze and Torres. It was so sad to see Zidane end his last game without a World Cup title and we understand his loss of cool but he is the best player and a legend like Pele and Maradona and Zidane is my player of the tournament.

In this tournament to be honest I think its Cannovaro. Even though I am a huge Brazilian fan they just didn't deliver cause there is too much ego in that team. Its a good thing that old the older players are leaving.

But Cannovaro is easily the best player in this tournament without him they will really struggle...

After watching the blazing match, between Les Bleus and the Portuguese, I was impressed by the performance of 'Zizou'. No doubt that Zinedine Zidane is a marvellous player. It's a great pity and loss to all French fans, like me to see an emperor like Zidane to quit his professional career. He's the main driving force behind the team, with his golden goals and magical touch on the ball. He's the maestro of Les Bleus.

I think Germany's Jens Lehman is one of the best players in the world! He is the best goalkeeper for sure. I like Miroslav Klose as well. He is a great player -- he turns a somersault when he scores a goal -- great player!!! Thank you, CNN for covering the World Cup. Great Job!

In my opinion the team for this World Cup is:

Goalkeeper: Buffon, because of his reflexes and excellent saves, and sure he's Italian...

Defence: at the right Miguel from Portugal played a beautiful World Cup; at left Lahm, from Germany, he's good in defence and attack; and at central defence Cannavaro and Thuram, both from Juventus, that have the best defence in the whole world.

Midfield: Pirlo, Zidane, Nedved and Essien for me played the best football for this World Cup. Pirlo did great for Italy, making perfect passes, shooting big shots and tackling well. Zidane, played an excellent match against Brazil, for me one of the most brilliant participations from one player in a match. Nedved and Essien, their teams are early eliminated but they played the best they can at this World Cup.

Attack: Cristiano Ronaldo and Klose. Ronaldo is a young player but appears very mature in this World Cup, especially in the finals, and for me was the best Portugal player against France and Klose did very well, making goals and that shows his great scorer.

That's it. Sorry about my bad English...I'm still learning.

As a neutral, Zidane has stolen the World Cup, which on paper should of belonged to Ronaldinho who for whatever reason decided not to show up at this years World Cup.

Owen Hargreaves was the reason why Portugal didn't run away with the game against England.

Nobody is really a super star. I think that Italy is without a great super star but it's a "team."

For me the best player was Tim Cahill. He has done a lot for our Socceroos.

I think Fernando Torres did an amazing job at this world cup. He came in and showed us his stuff in the 3 amazing goals he made.

There hasn't been much talk about the Italians and their performances. For me the player of the tournament has to be Fabio Cannavaro.

He has been at the heart of the Azzurri defence, which has not conceded a goal in the tournament (at least not from the opponents!). The Italians have been gelling nicely with each passing game and I believe he is the inspiration!

Taking nothing away from the great Zizou (for all his mastery and skill on the field) but as a strong supporter of Italy I have to go for Cannavaro. So GO CANNAVARO! GO TOTTI! and GO AZZURRIS! Goooooool!
