Sebo nets Slovakia debut hat-trick
![]() Sebo is congratulated by his team-mates after scoring his hat-trick goal. BRATISLAVA, Slovakia -- Filip Sebo scored a hat-trick on his debut as Slovakia beat Malta 3-0 in a friendly on Tuesday. Sebo, who has just joined Scottish club Rangers from Austria Vienna, pounced in the first half to send a low cross shot past Malta keeper Justin Haber. He added his second after 75 minutes, heading in from close range from a cross by Ivan Hodur. He completed his hat-trick in the last minute. Slovakia's victory was tarnished by a knee injury to Nuremburg striker Robert Vittek, a halftime substitute. Slovakia, who narrowly missed qualifying for the World Cup, begin their qualifying for Euro 2008 on September 2 against Cyprus. Group D also includes Germany, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Wales and San Marino. Ukraine hit sixMeanwhile, World Cup quarterfinalists Ukraine thrashed Azerbaijan 6-0 in a friendly as both countries prepared for their respective Euro 2008 qualifiers. Despite missing several players from their World Cup squad, including captain Andriy Shevchenko, Ukraine found the net four times before halftime. Andriy Voronin, Serhiy Nazarenko, Ruslan Rotan and Oleg Gusev were on target in the opening half . Andriy Vorobei and Olexiy Belik added two more after the interval. Ukraine, beaten by Italy in the World Cup in Germany, open their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign at home to Georgia on Sept. 6. Azerbaijan travel to Serbia four days earlier. Wales in stalemateWales warmed up for their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign with a lively 0-0 draw against Bulgaria in Swansea. Veteran Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs had a first-half free kick clawed away by Bulgarian keeper Georgi Petkov. But Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov was a constant threat for Bulgaria. Wales coach John Toshack changed his side's formation from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2 but his defense still looked vulnerable. Nevertheless Rob Earnshaw, Craig Bellamy and David Vaughan all went close to snatching a win for Wales.
