Faubert snatches a win for France
![]() Barbarez raised Bosnia's hopes with a 16th minute goal SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina -- Julien Faubert scored a late goal Wednesday to give France a 2-1 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina in a friendly -- France's first match since losing to Italy in the World Cup final. Bosnia dominated early on, and Sergej Barbarez gave the hosts a 16th minute lead. Zlatan Misimovic's free kick from the left was passed to Barbarez, who beat France goalkeeper Gregory Coupet from five meters. William Gallas equalized five minutes before the break and Faubert grabbed a last-minute winner. France increased the pressure toward the end of the first half and took control of the game. Franck Ribery's free kick went to Louis Saha, who passed to Gallas who volleyed past Kenan Hasagic. Both teams had chances in the second half, but France snatched the winner when Faubert volleyed the ball into the net. "We played a good game and I am satisfied with how we played. We are sorry that we lost the game in this fashion," Bosnia coach Blaz Sliskovic said. Both teams used the match to prepare for the 2008 European Championship qualifying tournament. Bosnia face Malta and Hungary next month in qualifying matches. Turkey, Norway, Moldova and defending European champion Greece are also in Group C. France, who won the European Championship in 2000, are in Group B with Italy, Ukraine, Scotland, Lithuania, Georgia and the Faeroe Islands. The French team opens against Georgia and then hosts Italy.
