Blackburn closing on PSV's Ooijer
 Ooijer played in the Dutch World Cup finals campaign. LONDON, England -- PSV's Holland international Andre Ooijer is on the verge of signing for Blackburn, the Premiership side's manager Mark Hughes indicated on Tuesday. Blackburn have been long term admirers of the 32-year-old defender and could do with his expertise at the back given their season-opening 3-0 loss to Portsmouth at the weekend. Hughes said: "Ooijer has great experience. He has played at the highest level and would be a real asset for us." The former Wales manager added: "We have been looking to add to our central defensive options all this summer. "We have made a number of increased offers for him and the situation is very much in PSV's hands but hopefully something will happen in the next 24 hours." He added: "This current scenario has dragged on longer than anticipated but hopefully will reach a positive conclusion." Blackburn have already secured FC Porto's South Africa striker Benni McCarthy, Jason Roberts, Jason Brown and Francis Jeffers over the summer as Hughes bids to build on last season's sixth place finish.
