Arsenal give England four in draw
![]() LONDON, England -- Arsenal grabbed a late 2-1 win over Dynamo Zagreb on Wednesday as the English Premiership became the only league to send a full contingent of four clubs into the group stage of the Champions League. Eduardo da Silva gave Zagreb a first half lead as Arsenal rested several players including France striker Thierry Henry and Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann. Arsenal leveled when Freddie Ljungberg nodded home a freekick from Robin van Persie in the 77th and Mathieu Flamini fired home the winner for a 5-1 aggregate success. Arsenal join Chelsea, Manchester United and the 2005 champions Liverpool in the group stage when the draw is made Thursday at 1600 GMT. Italy and Spain also stood the chance of having four clubs in the elite event, but Chievo Verona and Osasuna were ousted by Levski Sofia on Wednesday and SV Hamburg on Tuesday, respectively. That leaves Italy with Inter and AC Milan as well as Roma, while title holders Barcelona, Real Madrid and Valencia will represent Spain. Chievo, promoted into the Champions League qualifying rounds in connection with country's match-fixing affair, were held 2-2 at home by Levski to go out 4-2 on aggregate. Dimitar Telkiyski gave Levski an early lead which Cedric Bardon doubled seconds into the second half. Amauri's double in the 48th and 81st did not hurt Levski, who had Lucio Wagner sent off along with Chievo's Salvatore Lanna. France also have three teams, with Lille joining Olympique Lyon and Girondins Bordeaux with a 4-0 aggregate win over Rabotnicki Skopje from Wednesday's 1-0 victory in Macedonia. Johan Audel got the only goal in the 18th, the hosts had Dragan Jakovslevski sent off. Sixteen teams led by title holders Barcelona advanced directly into the group stage while the 16 others qualified Tuesday and Wednesday. But there was a big upset when Danish club Copenhagen overturned a 2-1 home defeat with a stunning 2-0 win at former greats Ajax Amsterdam for a 3-2 aggregate triumph. Steaua Bucharest, who beat Barcelona in the 1989 final, did better to make the group stage on Wednesday 4-3 from two games with a 2-1 victory against Standard Liege. Also through on Wednesday went Moscow clubs Spartak and CSKA, Ukraine's big duo of Dynamo Kiev and Shakhtar Donetsk, Galatarsay of Turkey and AEK Athens. The ex-champions Liverpool, Milan, Benfica Lisbon, Hamburg, plus Valencia qualified on Tuesday for the Champions League which kicks off on September 12 and culminates in the May 23, 2007, final in Athens. The 16 direct qualifiers were Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Werder Bremen, Inter Milan, Roma, Olympique Lyon, Girondons Bordeaux, Porto, Sporting Lisbon, PSV Eindhoven, Olympiakos Piraeus, Celtic and Anderlecht.
