Shevchenko's celebrations were shortlived as Chelsea lost out.

LONDON, England -- Champions Chelsea suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at Middlesbrough on Wednesday while Manchester United made it two wins out of two with a convincing 3-0 victory at Charlton.

Darren Fletcher put them ahead, Louis Saha doubled their lead and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scored his first goa lin three years as Alex Ferguson's side made it a maximum six points out of six.

Martin O'Neill got his first win as Aston Villa manager as his side came from behind to beat Reading 2-1, helped by the first-half sending-off of Ibrahima Sonko.

Tim Cahill scored the equalizer as Everton drew at Blackburn Rovers, while Jimmy Bullard's late penalty gave Fulham a point in a 1-1 draw with Bolton.
