MUNICH, Germany -- Owen Hargreaves has "no chance" of joining Manchester United before the transfer window closes, according to his agent Roman Grill.

United are reportedly ready to pay 17 million pounds ($32.24 million) for Bayern Munich's England international but the Germans insist that he must stay with them.

Grill said: "There is no chance of the deal taking place. We have to accept there is no way Bayern will allow this transfer to happen."

Grill added: "We did everything we could to grant Owen his wish to play for Manchester United but his only hope is that, if United remain interested in him, the deal could happen at a later date."

Hargreaves is under contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2010 and Bayern have constantly asserted that they would not be selling, despite signing Mark van Bommel from Barcelona.

Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness declared: "Owen stays - you can bet your house on that. Manchester United will have to plan without him.

"We want to move forward with Mark and Owen."

United are also reported to be interested in signing Juventus and France striker David Trezeguet.

Trezeguet has been linked with several clubs this summer following Juve's demotion to Serie B as a result of a match-fixing scandal.

United have tabled a take-it-or-leave-it bid of 15 million pounds ($28.5 million dollars) for the French international, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian sports daily said Trezeguet's father Jorge was in Manchester over the weekend talking to United officials, who are looking for a striker to replace Dutch international Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
