Bundesliga clubs fined over racism

FRANKFURT, Germany -- The German Football Federation (DFB) have fined Bundesliga clubs Alemannia Aachen and Borussia Monchengladbach 50,000 euros and 19,000 euros respectively for racist slurs by fans in the league meeting on September 16.

Fines of 75,000 euros and 25,000 euros had been requested but the disciplinary panel reduced them after both clubs apologized for the conduct of their fans.

Aachen's home fans, who celebrated a 4-2 win, directed racist remarks at Gladbach's Brazilian striker Kahe and the visiting supporters responded by targeting Aachen's Malian defender Moses Sichone.

It was not the only ugly incident this season, with Hansa Rostock fined 20,000 euros after fans of their reserve team abused Schalke's Ghana-born German international Gerald Asamoah during a first round cup tie.
