LONDON, England -- Tottenham Hotspur winger Hossam Ghali has won a surprise recall to the Egypt squad for their African Nations Cup qualifer in Botswana on Saturday. Ghali, who signed for Spurs in the summer, has not played for Egypt for the past 12 months and was left out of their Nations Cup triumph in January. Another Premier League player returning to the international fold this weekend is Ibrahima Sonko of Reading, who has joined up with Senegal. The 25-year-old had turned down previous call-ups to concentrate on his club career but has now agreed to join the 20-man squad for the match in Burkina Faso, officials said on Monday. Senegal have also named uncapped Italian-based striker Pape Waigo Ndiaye in the squad for the Group Seven match in Ouagadougou and recalled West Bromwich Albion striker Diomansy Kamara. Ghali is one of seven changes to the Egypt squad that beat Burundi 4-1 in Cairo in their first qualifying match for the 2008 finals. |
