SYDNEY, Australia -- Australia will play Denmark in a friendly match in London on February 6, Football Federation Australia announced on Tuesday. The Socceroos, looking for high-class opponents ahead of next year's Asian Cup finals, will take on the Danes at Loftus Road, FFA said. Queens Park Rangers' home ground is also hosting Australia's international against fellow World Cup finalists Ghana on November 14. "Our goal is to be as successful as possible at the Asian Cup and games against Ghana and Denmark will give us the opportunity to get much-needed preparation matches against high-quality opposition," interim coach Graham Arnold said in a statement Tuesday. "Denmark are former European champions and have started well in their Euro 2008 qualifiers so they will prove a tough opponent for us." Denmark will use the match to fine-tune ahead of a Euro 2008 qualifier against Spain the following month. Arnold said Romania-based striker Ryan Griffiths will come into the squad for next week's Ghana match to replace injured forward Scott McDonald. ![]() Austrlian coach Arnold expects the Danes to provide his team with tough opposition. |
