'Can humanity control technology?'

--------------------------------------------------------

As long as we are pushed to do more things in shorter periods of time, I don't think we can. The need for technology will always be in demand. We're going to have to be the ones to stand up and say enough is enough. Until then, nothing will change.
Theo Johnson, Dallas, Texas

-------------------------------------------------------

No, I belive that in the near future, man made technology will pose a real treat for the entire globe because of the misuse of technology in developing weapons of mass destruction.
Zia Lamia, Pakistan

-------------------------------------------------------
Technology is the process of bringing hi-tech within reach of every one. This -- in turn -- is governed by DEMAND. Can demand be controlled? Only to some extent. Some demand can be created or manipulated, but it cannot be finitely controlled. Demand is fickle, unpredictable and can swing wildly. I say: No, technology cannot be controlled.
Cor de Wit, Port Elizabeth, South Africa (Aug. 9)

----------------------------------------------------Since i was 12, I have asked myself the same question. You know what? I think technology holds doom for humanity; every discovery man has made has had it's advantages and disadvantages, even technology.
Fitzgerald Gyto de Lenz, Nigeria (July 8)

-----------------------------------------------------
For me, it has 2 big impacts in the society, it can help the mankind for example cybernetics, it can replace our parts but in the other side, it can be used in violence.
Eugene Esparcia, Philippines (July 8)

-------------------------------------------------------
Yes, 'til the disaster happens suddenly, then only a sci-fi writer can have some ideas of how to deal with it.
Benzorg, China (July 7)

-------------------------------------------------------
The world has handled technology well so far. I see no reason why we will not be able to in the future. My only fear is how fast we move. We must not be caught up today in the technological frenzy for the next generation. If we do we may be well ahead of our times and that may destroy us.
Yemisi Aina, Nigeria (July 5)

--------------------------------------------------------
It canīt because there has always been a supreme being, the father of creation, who gave the human nature the brains. So itīs not possible except if HE PERMITS.
CJ, Spain (July 5)

--------------------------------------------------------
The governments of the world will not hold back the "improvement" of mankind. If anything they will finance and CONTROL these procedures only allowing who they wish to be "improved". In essence this will create a new breed of "Super Rich". This way the Government will be in control... and the average person will be discriminated against even more than they already are.
Josh Adams, Canada (July 4)
