PURCELL, Oklahoma (CNN) -- A district attorney said he plans to seek the death penalty against a Purcell, Oklahoma, man who was arrested after the body of a girl was found in his apartment.

Although the body has not yet been formally identified, authorities believe is that of 10-year-old Jamie Rose Bolin, missing since Wednesday.

"We do strongly believe the body is that of our missing 10-year-old Jamie," said Purcell Police Chief David Tomkins. "I think we are all disappointed that it has ended the way it has ended tonight, with the death of a 10-year-old girl."

Kevin Ray Underwood, 26, will be charged with first-degree murder Monday, said District Attorney Tim Kuykendall in McClain County, where Purcell is located. Kuykendall's district also covers nearby Cleveland and Garvin counties. (Watch as police rope off the crime scene -- 3:30)

Initial reports were that Bolin was last seen getting into a dark blue Chevrolet Tahoe outside the library near her home, and information about the vehicle was included in an Amber Alert. However, authorities said late Friday they do not believe a Tahoe was involved in Bolin's disappearance.

"As it turns out, the information that was the subject of the Amber Alert is probably going to turn out to be unrelated to her death," Kuykendall said. "There may be another suspect out there, a sexual predator," he said. "They're still following up on that."

There is a possibility that Bolin went to meet someone she met over the Internet, but the prosecutor said that information isn't confirmed.

"That doesn't mean that she wasn't having a conversation on a computer with a sexual predator that was trying to meet with her, but the investigators are still following up on that," Kuykendall said.

Kuykendall called the death "atrocious and heinous and cruel."

Underwood, who was arrested after he was stopped at a police checkpoint, has no apparent criminal history, Tomkins said.

Authorities were seeking search warrants for Underwood's apartment and vehicle, said Kim Carter, spokesman for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Initial indications were that Underwood acted alone, Carter said.

Purcell is about 40 miles south of Oklahoma City.

Correspondent Ed Lavandera and Producer Tracy Sabo contributed to this report.
