Police: 7 slain inside Indianapolis home
![]() Indianapolis police are searching for Desmond Turner, who is a suspect in the killing of seven people. YOUR E-MAIL ALERTS(CNN) -- Indianapolis police were investigating a multiple homicide in a residential neighborhood near the Indiana Women's Prison late Thursday, a police spokesman said. Authorities have identified one suspect, 28-year-old Desmond Turner, and said they believe there is at least one more. Dispatchers received calls of shots being fired at a home shortly after 10 p.m. One of the phone callers reported hearing screams and 10 to 15 gunshots. According to a police dispatcher, seven people were shot and killed at the house, but few details were known about the victims other than some were children. Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Staletovich said officers arrived on the scene only minutes after the first calls and "found a young woman crying that her mother had been shot." "It appears that everyone that was shot is dead," he said. "At this point, we don't know who did what to whom." Another police spokesman, Sgt. Matthew Mount, called it one of the worst crime scenes in the city in the last 25 to 30 years. "This was not a drive-by shooting. Someone entered the home and discharged the weapon, which killed these victims," Indianapolis Police Chief Michael Spears said. CNN's Ninette Sosa, Shelby Lin and Jessica Jordan contributed to this report.
