"Do not speculate," she said. "Let the justice system take its course." In the past, her measured response and tenacity have served her well. After joining the Boulder district attorney's office in 1983, she was a tough sexual-assault prosecutor who gained notoriety for lambasting the University of Colorado for allegedly enticing football recruits with sex and alcohol. "American Morning" chose Lacy as the latest person who was "Making Their Mark." CNN.com asked readers to send in their ideas about who is having an impact this past week. Here is a selection of those e-mails, some of which have been edited: The most influential newsmaker for me this week has been the editorial board of the Christian Science Monitor and Jill Carroll for putting her story in print and video. We hear about people being kidnapped and held hostage, but not everyone knows exactly what that means. This story seems even more meaningful now that I am hearing it all through her own words and voice. It seems like it took a lot of bravery and strength to put the pieces together simply so we can know her story. We all should be brave enough to bare witness about our experiences in this way. Hezbollah, without doubt. First their was an unexpected victory over the Israeli invaders, then their willingness to rebuild what was lost. I have had to rethink my attitude and have come to believe it is the existence of Israel on stolen land that is the root of most of the disquiet in the Middle East, and there will be no peace while Israel exists. Hezbollah wins my vote for influencing the world. They are the heroes of the future. My choice is Ned Lamont, a Democratic Senate candidate, who won over that turncoat Joe Lieberman. I am not from Connecticut, but I will be praying Ned wins big in November. What do you think? Send us an e-mail.
